Have you watched Rocky BalBoa movie? This part is the part I remembered the most.

Rocky told his son:
“You ain’t gonna believe this, but you used to fit right here. I’d hold you up and say to your mother: “This kid is gonna be the best kid in the world. This kid is gonna be somebody better than anybody ever knew.” And you grew up good and wonderful. It was great watching. Everyday is like a privilege.

Then the time comes for you to be your own man and take on the world, and you did! But somewhere along the line, you changed. You stopped being you. You let people stick a finger in your face and tell you you’re no good. And when things got hard, you started looking for something to blame, like a big shadow.

Let me tell you something you already know. The world ain’t all sunshine and rainbows. It is a very mean and nasty place and I don’t care how tough you are, it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life.

But it ain’t about how hard you hit; it’s about how hard you can get hit, and keep moving forward. . How much you can take, and keep moving forward. That’s how winning is done.

Now, if you know what you’re worth, then go out and get what you’re worth. But you gotta be willing to take the hits, and not pointing fingers and saying you ain’t where you wanna be because of him or her or anybody! Cowards do that and that ain’t you. You’re better than that!”

I am so totally agree with him! It is so true for me. I not the smartest guy in the world, nor the most resourceful guy. I am just someone who doesn’t give up. I got hit hard in my life before, until the point that I intend to give up.

Many people envy those people who have successful businesses or career and can just relax and let the money roll in. When they start to follow those people and start their own businesses or career, some of them do fail. They got hit real hard and gave up eventually and accept a mediocre life.

There were times when I got hit real hard in my life. I faced many problems that I have no idea on how to solve it. The thought of giving up has always be in my mind. I once felt that I should just give up and enjoy my life away happily with friends. I had to cancel my gatherings and meetings with friends for my business. When my friends are having fun outside, I was at home working on my business. The thing that makes me carry on is the desire to succeed in whatever I do. I believe, if I do not give up, there’s sure a way to overcome it.

Maybe I will share some problems I faced before:

• My business partner left me and make fun of the business, Tuition Finder (now known as iTutor Agency).
• I got a new business partner and he left me shortly too.
• My friends teased me for having a lousy tuition agency.
• After I revamped my tuition agency and renamed it, I faced legal issues with another tuition agency which intend to use ‘iTutor’ as their business name too. I was on the verge of being sued.
• etc, etc.

As an amature in doing business, I faced those problems mentioned above! I did thought of stopping my tuition agency 3 years ago. When I faced with those legal issues, I was so lost and totally clueless in solving it. Despite all these, I did not give up. Just like Rocky mentioned, “it ain’t about how hard you hit; it’s about how hard you can get hit, and keep moving forward. . How much you can take, and keep moving forward“, it is really not about how hard you can hit. All the problems have hit me hard, but I kept moving forward.

Have you ever seen or heard awful stories by others of a successful entrepreneur before? They will say that entrepreneur was lucky or has helped from his father or has many connections from his relatives and friends, etc. I think those people only know how to talk and never reflect on themselves. They thought those people has faced less obstacles or have a smooth process.

From my experience, I feel that every plan will sure screw up. Nothing will goes accordingly as you planned. It is how you managed it and appeared as a successful plan.

Now, if you know you are capable of doing certain things, then go out there and do it! But you must be prepared to take all kinds of obstacles along the way.

Quitters never win, Winners never quit.

After 1 month of intense lessons and projects, I did learn a lot about entrepreneurship and made many new friends. It is so different from my main course and is a great learning experience.

Honestly, I did not regret taking up this minor although it is really very tiring (even the OBS). 1 month passed so fast and it seems like a dream to me. University life (other than the projects) has never been so fun before.

Through this minor, you can judge for yourself if entrepreneurship is suitable for you. Being an entrepreneur is not easy and one will face difficulties and sleepless nights just to get over every problem faced. If one thinks that this minor is too much to handle, he or she may need to consider whether he or she still wants to be an entrepreneur. For me, I already have a business (iTutor Agency) of my own and I did face many problems when I first start up. It is the perseverance that leads to me today.

To summarise, if you are able to get through this minor and still determine to be an entrepreneur, you should continue to pursue your dreams as an entrepreneur!

Life is getting hectic for me. I am so busy juggling my school work and my tuition agency business. As my tuition agency grows, I get busier. Same for my school work. More and more projects and assignments. And, currently I am having my exams.

After my exams, I only have 1 month plus of break before another intensive period for my Minor in Entrepreneurship which starts in June. During that one month plus of break, I should be busy sorting out my tuition agency stuffs.

However, I feel that my life is getting more and more meaningful and closer to my goals! I really hope to learn alot from the Minor in Entrepreneurship which I took up.

By the way…

I have just started using Twitter which is used for posting little updates of your life and socialising with friends online. Up to now, Facebook is still the number 1 social bookmarking site and I still love Facebook. But maybe one day, Twitter will get better? =)

In life, we have often been misled. We have always been told to do our best to achieve our goals or targets we set upon. It is true that we should have goals to motivate us to become better and better, but sometimes, we should study the processes we had gone through. The journey to your goals is much enriching than achieving them.

In Singapore, we have an impression that, in order to succeed in life, there is a fixed route for everyone. To go through Primary school, Secondary school, Junior College/Polytechnic and University, and you will be able to get your job and that is a success. Everything will be graded.

We have been trying to achieve that success everyday in life. In studies, success is to get straight ‘A’s. In the workforce, the success is to exceed monthly targets and expectations and hope to get promoted. It is a great thing and it is luring you to reach the top.

And one day, you woke up and realised you got that great thing! You had reached your goals!

All of a sudden, you may feel different from what you had expected and felt a slight letdown because that great thing is just a hoax. It makes you miss everything.

In life, we have been driven to work towards our goal. Working days and nights to achieve it. It is similar to a race. Everyone started at the starting point with the mind to reach the finishing line. Sometimes, we had missed out valuable lessons or important friends along the journey.

I’m not saying that you should not be focused on your goals. I mean that you should enjoy and learn as much as you can along the journey as you work towards your goals. We should spend some time reflecting back on our lives. Don’t end up being a workaholic.

One must learn to arrange time for everything in life.
Life is more than achieving your goals!

Job Scope:

• Communicating with customers to understand their requirements and details of the tuition request.
• Search for tutors in our database that are suitable for the assignments.
• Ensure that the tutors selected are available and willing to take up the assignments.
• Coordinators do not need to handle billing and collection of payment.
• Report the details of all the closed assignments to proceed with the collection of commission.

Working Environment:

• You can work from home, or anywhere that has an Internet connection.
• You will be required to use your own computer that has internet connection.
• You will be required to use your own home/mobile phone to speak to our customers and tutors.
• Flexible working hours.
• Friendly and helpful mentors.

What is expected:

• Coordinators must be fluent in English and second language (Mother Tongue).
• Coordinators must have good communication skills to handle all kinds of customers.
• Coordinators with customer service experience will be an advantage.
• iTutor Agency have to be able to keep in touch with any coordinators at all times.
• Coordinators have to be committed to handle tuition assignments given.
• Training will be provided to access our database and standard procedures will be informed before taking on any tuition request.
